Principles of HIV Prevention

HIV Prevention Community Planning is based upon three principles, Inclusion, Representation, and Parity:

• Inclusion: assurance of meaningful inclusion of all needed perspectives.

• Representation: assurance that those representing a community truly reflect that community’s values, norms, and behaviors.

• Parity: condition whereby all members are provided opportunities to participate and have equal voice in decision-making.
